Truth over trends + the space to make it happen.

Boston photography studio for families, brands, and creatives who know exactly who they are

This is your space.

A studio session is something different. It’s a chance to slow down, build intentional images together, and fill the frame with the things that matter most – your people, your brand, your art.

Whether you’re snuggling up with your littles for a portrait that actually looks like your family, launching a brand that deserves visuals as bold as your vision, or bringing a creative concept to life with room to play, I’m here to collaborate.

And if the studio isn’t calling your name? I shoot on location too. Wherever your story lives – a favorite neighborhood, your home, a venue that means something to you – I’ll meet you there. I also host seasonal mini sessions both at the studio and at curated on-location spots throughout the year. Follow along to catch the next one.

Come in. Let’s make something.

Top 5 Reasons to Book a Branding Session for Your Small Business

In today's fast-paced digital world, standing out as a small business is no easy feat. One of the most powerful ways to distinguish your brand is through high-quality, professional photography.

A Guide to Preparing for Your Newborn Session

An at-home or studio newborn session is the perfect way to preserve the tenderness of your baby’s first days. Learn how to make the most of your session in our blog post all about these sweet little sessions.

She Was Always a Star: Briar Blush, RuPaul's Drag Race Season 18, and the Magic We Made Before the Mainstage

There are moments in this work where you look through the viewfinder and just know. You know that the person on the other side of the lens has something rare. That's what Briar is like.

Services

The father, with a beard and wearing a pink shirt with a smartwatch, stands beside them. There are colorful flower arrangements on either side of them.

Families

Whether it’s a birthday, a new baby, a milestone, or just a Tuesday you don’t want to forget – I’ve got you covered.

From newborn sessions to senior portraits and everything in between, I’m here to capture the magic of your busy, beautiful life.

In the studio, there’s no scrambling for the golden hour window and no worrying about the weather. Just you, your people, and a beautifully curated space to let your love fill the frame. And if home is where your heart is, I’m happy to come to you.

I bring the same gently-guided approach to every family session – in the studio or out in the world. We’ll have a little fun, get a little silly, and make meaningful portraits that look exactly like the version of your family you actually want to remember.

Brands

You’ve put real work into building something. Your brand visuals should say that.

I work with small businesses, entrepreneurs, and creatives who are ready for imagery that moves people. Together, we’ll build a vision board and shot list around your goals, your story, and the clients you most want to attract – then execute it in a beautiful, fully-equipped studio space or out on location in a setting that fits your brand’s personality.

When we’re done, you’ll have a library of images that look nothing like your competitors and everything like you.

That’s kind of the whole point.

Creatives

The studio is a blank canvas, and I love getting creative and experimental with performers, designers, stylists, and makers who are chasing a look.

I bring an editorial eye to every frame, and my passion for light, color, and kinetic imagery goes way back. (Ask me about photographing bands on tour sometime.)

We’ve photographed everything from Alice in Wonderland-inspired drag editorials across three backdrops to ice castle adventure sessions in -10° weather to funeral-themed birthday parties at botanical gardens.

If you’ve got a strong concept and the energy to match – I’m here for it!

“Amanda is AMAZING! We worked with her for both our maternity shoot and our newborn shoot. We planned an outdoor winter maternity shoot and it of course happened to snow that day. Amanda was all in and captured the most beautiful winter photos ever! We even brought our dog, and her husband helped handle him while we took couples pics – he even carried our dog to give him a break from the snow. Talk about going above and beyond!”

Meet Amanda Macchia

Boston photography studio owner for the fierce, sweet, and sweetly fierce

A young woman with blonde hair and tattoos smiling and laughing in front of a background of yellow flowers and greenery.

You’re looking for a Massachusetts photographer who leads with laughter and love to lock into your truth, turning your tender sense of joy into your favorite images. Looks like you’ve found them!

I’ve always been
a storyteller.

While in college for journalism, I followed my curiosity on tour to photograph bands at high-energy shows around the country. I got to chase light, color, and mile markers to create bold, kinetic images. It was exhilarating.

After college, marketing felt like the sensible next step. I moved up the ladder quickly, but the higher I climbed, the more I felt that something was missing.

A sense of purpose. A sense of connection.

So I pivoted and moved to Boston to pursue photography instead of a traditional 9–5.

It was a step toward a life aligned with my core values:

Creativity

Authenticity

Human connection

And have I mentioned Mike?

Mike is the studio manager! He’s also my second photographer, lighting tech, and resident film photography pro. He works a special magic with 35mm and medium format film, turning your sweetest moments into tangible, analog keepsakes. In our spare time, you’ll find us playing with his cabinet of vintage cameras.

If Mike is at your session, you’ll love his calm demeanor and problem-solving skills as much as I do.

And your babies will definitely adore him.

At AMP, I believe love is expansive, bodies are worthy, and photography should reflect real people, not outdated expectations. Grounded in inclusivity and emotionally honest storytelling, AMP documents the moments that shape a life and creates images that honor community, resilience, and love in every form.

I live my values in the way I run my business and support businesses and nonprofits dedicated to helping people with marginalized identities. Ask about the programs I support when we chat!

The Studio

Our studio lives at Mills58 in Peabody, MA – a creative complex that matches the energy we bring to every session. We’re on the fourth floor in nearly 800 square feet of space, with two walls of exposed brick, bright western-facing light, and three to four distinct shooting areas ready to go.

It’s versatile, it’s beautiful, and it’s fully equipped for portraits, brands, and creative shoots alike.

The studio is also available to rent on its own! Whether you’re a photographer looking for a fully-equipped North Shore home base or a creative team that needs a great space to bring your vision to life, we’d love to share it with you.

Studio Rental coming soon! In the meantime, you can check out our interim space in North Cambridge pictured here!

The Family Plan

Time flies when you’re raising a family.

That’s why we created the Family Plan – an investment designed to document your family’s growth and all the magic that happens along the way, from those first wobbly steps to a sibling’s giggle fit. Ask me about it when we chat.
